Used by 2 BusyBot nodes.
clockifyApi 1 field The Clockify credential holds an API key found in your Clockify profile settings, used by the Clockify node and its trigger for time entries, projects and reporting.
Fields
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
API KeyapiKey | password | Yes | Your Clockify API key. Found in Clockify under Profile Settings > API. |
Getting your credentials
- Sign in to Clockify.
- Open Profile Settings from your account menu.
- Scroll to the API section and generate or copy your API key.
- Paste it into the credential’s API Key field in BusyBot.
Permissions and scopes
The key acts as your user across the workspaces you belong to. Workspace-level permissions still apply, so an account without admin rights cannot perform admin operations through the API either.
Troubleshooting
- 401 Unauthorized — the key is wrong or was regenerated in profile settings.
- Workspace not found — the account behind the key does not belong to it.
- Cannot modify another user’s entries — that requires appropriate workspace permissions in Clockify.
Frequently asked questions
Where exactly is the API key?
In Clockify under Profile Settings → API, rather than in workspace settings.
Can it edit other people's time entries?
Only if the account behind the key has the workspace permissions to do so. API access does not bypass Clockify's own permission model.
Does one key serve the node and the trigger?
Yes, both use the same credential type.
